  • The Client

Pixelmator Pro is an incredibly powerful, beautiful, and easy-to-use image editor designed exclusively for MAC. The app also allows you to draw both raster & vector shapes and provides a great choice of funky brushes to explore.

  • The Task

Familiarise myself with Pixelmator Pro and create custom illustrations for their marketing team to promote throughout their platform in order to educate and introduce more creatives to the endless possibilities of the app.

  • The Specifics

The Pixelmator Pro team felt enthusiastic about my work and contacted me with specific samples of it that they wished I explored further. They wanted me to fully unleash my creative freedom with very few limitations in mind.

Getting Started ✏️

Naturally, both Pixelmator Pro's team and I wanted to see a few different concepts before diving into the Digital Design part of the process. I wanted to either focus on a landscape or a character illustration so I sketched four ideas in total. Two of them I drew with my iPad and the other two– with a good old pencil on paper, and presented them to the client.

Digitalising

Through discussion, we found out that for the specific needs of this project, illustrations of serene landscapes would be the better choice as they would allow me to showcase the capabilities of the app better and to utilize the amazing textured brush library of Pixelmator Pro.

I hadn’t used the app before this project so for the next step of the process I had to learn how it works to digitalize my illustrations. Pixelmator Pro turned out to be incredibly intuitive and so easy to use that I managed to do that in no time and successfully presented these two finished pieces:

Social Media

The Pixelmator Pro team was thrilled to see the final results and was ready to finalize the project by shared my illustrations on their social media platforms without having any iterations for me to apply.
